Members update:
We are now official -
The Friends of South Molton Community Woodland formed as a group last November - to maintain & enhance South Molton Community Woodland for the benefit of the local community, wildlife and the natural environment.
We now have a Constitution - This lets funders know what sort of group we are, how we operate and how we manage our money;
Equal Opportunities Policy - In line with our aim to include everyone who is interested in helping too look after South Molton Community Woodland;
Insurance - We have been awarded grants from South Molton Town Council and North Devon District Council which have paid for insurance for working in the woodland and community or fundraising events;
Membership of BTCV (British Trust for Conservation Volunteers) - who know everything there is to know about setting up a community group and can help us through the first couple of years - and
A File in the Library - containing all the information about the group - newsletters, minutes of committee meetings, work party schedules etc
- but we still need HELP!!
We need help with all sorts of things - extra heads as well as extra hands make lighter work of everything from making paths to making cakes and helping with fundraising.
A Management plan has been commissioned which will tell us how to look after each section of the woodland. This can include ideas for improved community use as well as wildlife & environmental information. Let us know what you think - what do you like best about the woodland and how would you like to see it used?
Time for Tea : Help with the pouring, make us a cake or just come along for a chat at our coffee mornings. We will be manning the refreshments at the MA2K exhibition on Saturday 2nd July and our own coffee morning & exhibition of Logo competition entries on Saturday 6th August.
Both events are being held in the Assembly Rooms in South Molton Town Hall and we'd like to have enough volunteers so we can set up a rota and share the load.
